This course will provide students with an in-depth look at various data types and tools used by analysts to create, manage, manipulate and query data. Students will master methods for searching, retrieving, mining, and manipulating data from public safety Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Record Management System (RMS) repositories.

Tactical Crime Analysis using ATAC
Upon completion of this course, students can expect to be proficient in all elements of BAIR Analytics flagship analytic product, ‘ATAC’. The course is built around the published and proven “IZE” analysis methodology. Students will be taught how to utilize ATAC functionality to Categorize, Generalize, Organize, Minimize and Maximize real world data in such a way that ensures all possibilities are examined and exploited to the fullest. In addition to investigating data from an attribute perspective, students will be taught how to seamlessly incorporate ATAC’s statistical, spatial and temporal functions to support and enhance analytic outcomes.
The class will use real-world data and situations experienced by crime analysts and investigators.

Crime Mapping and Analysis using ArcGIS
Learn how to utilize the functionality of the world’s leading Geographic Information System to enable effective, thorough and timely analysis. This course was designed for analysts in the crime/intelligence field and uses questions analysts encounter every day to teach the software. Upon completion of the course, students and analysts attending this course will be able to respond to basic questions in support of strategic, administrative and tactical operations. The lessons will use real-world data and situations experienced by crime analysts and investigators.

Criminal Intelligence Analysis
This hands-on course will introduce students to the basic principles and techniques of intelligence analysis as applied to the world of professional law enforcement. Students will learn the legal and logical context of intelligence in policing, as well as the types of intelligence, process models, analytical thinking, and reasoning methods. Geographic mapping of intelligence-related data and timeline-plots will demonstrate how to analyze and forecast activity spatiotemporally. Students will learn how to perform Red Team assessments and will practice in an interactive environment. Upon completion of this comprehensive course, students will be well-versed in the fundamentals of intelligence analysis as applied in the context of law enforcement, corrections, and counter terrorism.

Forecasting Serial Events
This course provides students with the understanding and acumen essential to analyzing serial crime and IED events using ArcGIS. Using the student’s own data in addition to data from dozens of well-known serial events, students will learn and apply advanced spatial, temporal and statistical techniques to successfully forecast and predict serial events. The class will use real-world data and situations experienced by crime analysts and investigators.
