Duties and responsibilities
- Initiates efforts to propose and develop methodologies that will enable effective operational analysis intended to support the execution of the counter-IED fight.
- Develops analytical methodologies and algorithms to support temporal and spatial analysis for behavioral pattern recognition in support of counter-IED efforts.
- Identifies alternative analytic approaches of value and potential to the counter-IED fight.
- Assesses and recommends proposed approaches for the application of modeling and simulation capabilities, visualization approaches, investigative analysis techniques, forecasting methodologies and mathematical applications to the analysis of the counter-IED fight and directs the implementation of those approaches.
- Performs briefings, presentations and delivers analytical findings to all levels and branches of the service.
Desired qualifications include but not limited to:
- The analyst shall possess extensive experience in relational database system management, to include use and manipulation of Microsoft Access, SQL Server, and Oracle.
- The analyst shall be proficient in and shall have ability to leverage programming languages such as SQL, JAVA, and PERL.
- The analyst shall have extensive understanding of and ability to operate and manipulate large-scale data efforts relating to Geographic/Geospatial Information Systems, with particular emphasis on ArcGIS and Google Earth systems.
- The experienced analyst shall have a minimum of 2 years working with managing and training others in the use of the ATAC (Automated Tactical Analysis of Crime) software.
- The experienced analyst shall have extensive work history in the understanding of criminal and other forms of predatory behaviors.
- The analyst shall demonstrate knowledge of spatial statistics, time series techniques and mathematical principles to aid in the development of scientific modeling of spatio-temporal behaviors.
- The analyst shall have highly developed written and verbal presentation skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate well with diverse perspectives in a high-stress working environment.
The analyst shall have experience with and an in-depth understanding of law enforcement and U.S. military. - The analyst shall have the ability to operate on own initiative as well as under direction of SME II and shall provide assistance and mentorship towards Junior Analysts.
- The analyst shall have the ability to interact with other analytical teams within the division and within JIEDDO.
- The experienced pattern analyst shall possess a BS, MS preferred, in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Criminology/Psychology, Geographic/Geospatial Information Systems, Technical or Social Sciences or related field
- Minimum general experience of at least 7 years.
